BIO

Born in Malacca, Malaysia, now resides in Malden, Massachusetts USA.
 
 
 
Sand  T earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Tufts University and the Museum School. Her main artistic output is in the form of mixed media objects. She has been actively creating and exhibiting her work for over two decades. Sand has exhibited her work in Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States.
 
Sand has been the recipient of numerous awards for her work in the visual arts. These awards include: The 2009 New England Art Awards awarded by the New England Journal of Aesthetic Research in February 2010; an Exceptional Work Award from TLGUTS in June 2009, a Solo Exhibition Award by Caladan Gallery in May 2009; a First Place award given by Nicholas Capasso, curator of the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park for her submission to a juried show at Clark University in November 2007.
  
Sand's work resides in public and private art collections world wide, including collections in Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Her works have recently been added to the permanent collection of the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Sand T 's work has been reviewed in SENIKINI Magazine for Contemporary Art, published by the National Art Gallery (Malaysia), J Magazine (Boston), UMass Daily Collegian, The Star (Malaysia), the World Journal (Boston), the Malden Observer, the Sampan Newspaper (Boston), the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, the Big, Red and Shiny, the MaldenMuse magazine, artBEAT magazine, ArtsNewEngland magazine, artscope magazine, artsMEDIA magazine, Intersection Magazine (UK+ USA), the New Strait Times (Malaysia), Nona Magazine (Malaysia), Sin Chew Jit Pao (Malaysia), The Prestige Magazine (Malaysia), China Press (Malaysia), and NanYang Shang Pao (Malaysia).
 
Sand is highly skilled in community building, art promotion and visual merchandising. She operated artSPACE@16 in Malden and S.T Gallery in Boston's Fort Point district from 1998 - 2008. Her artSPACE@16 gallery was awarded The Best Of Boston ® Home Award 2008 by Boston Magazine, and voted Best Art Gallery for A-List 2007 conducted by WBZ-TV and CityVoter in Boston. After the closing of artSPACE@16's physical gallery space in summer 2008, Sand continues to advocate for the arts community on the internet. MAKING THE ART SEEN, a virtual gallery featuring art interviews, is her most recent initiative created in April 2009.
 
Her recent awards include The Malden YWCA Tribute to Women Award 2007, grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the LEF Foundation. Sand was nominated by peers for a Commonwealth Awards 2007 for Outstanding Contributions to Arts and Culture in Massachusetts. She was a candidate for the Malden Citizen of the Year 2003 conducted by the Malden Observer in Malden, Massachusetts.
