MAKING THE ART SEEN - a non-commercial virtual gallery featuring artist interviews. Created by artSPACE@16 ONLINE in April 2009, the primary goal of this new initiative is to provide an artistic web presence within the virtual community. Responsibilities: Blog site designing, building, entry composing, artist outreach/interviewing, research, editing, proof materials, archiving and database maintenance. Databases including project database and project photo database.

EYE ON THE ARTS: Contemporary Malaysia - The primary goal of this art initiative is to compile and share information of the Malaysian contemporary art scene. Responsibilities:- Blogsite designing, building, entry composing, research, editing, proof materials, archiving and database maintenance. * artSPACE@16 in Malden, Massachusetts (Previously known as ST gallery located in Fort Point Channel in Boston) 

Operation of a non-commercial gallery on a voluntary basis (Oct 1998 – May 2008). Presented ongoing contemporary art exhibitions, art initiatives, and collaborates in related events within the community. Through ongoing voluntary art activism and contemporary art exhibitions, artSPACE@16 seeked to promote a professional artistic presence to benefit Malden and the larger community through collaboration, education, and involvement.

Gallery projects involved: developing and producing exhibitions, grant / project proposal writing, budget planning, identify artists and themes, conducting studio visits, exhibition design and installation, publication design, website design and maintenance, community outreach, media publicity/PR, and hosting gallery receptions.

* artSPACE@16 gallery was awarded The BEST OF BOSTON ® HOME AWARD 2008 by Boston Magazine, and voted BEST ART GALLERY for A-List 2007 conducted by WBZ-TV and CityVoter in Boston.

PLEASE NOTE: After nearly a decade of operation, artSPACE@16 has closed its physical gallery space for good as of June 1st, 2008. Sand T , director of artSPACE@16 continues to advocate for the arts community on the WWW.

This discussion was held at the Mills Gallery BCA, reported in the Boston's Weekly Dig (4.13.05 - 4.20.05 issue) along with its "2005 Gallery Guide" which had included listings of Malden arts venues.

West End Café Gallery, Malden, MassachusettsMotivated and supported Sylvie Morretto, owner of West End Cafe Gallery to continue hosting art events at her Malden Café. Designed and had the gallery's sign made, wrote a call for artists and distributed it on behalf of the Café Gallery, outreach to musicians for opening reception, handed out listings of arts and cultural venues in Malden for attendees. AN INITIAL SURVEY FOR ARTIST STUDIO SPACE IN MALDEN.
This survey was initiated, written and conducted independently from the City of Malden. Participation in this survey was strictly voluntary and results were compiled and shared with the arts community and the relevant authorities in the City of Malden (The Mayor's Office, Malden Redevelopment Authority, local councilors, etc.). By compiling the results of this survey, I hoped to consolidate the voices of artists concerning their unmet spatial needs of live/work and just work studio spaces in Malden. Voluntary Involvement included but not limited to art space study and reaching, put together questionnaire, organizing, planning, identify artists, web page design, community outreach, conduct the survey, write report. LISTINGS OF ARTS AND CULTURAL VENUES IN MALDEN

A ongoing self-initiative effort in putting "Malden Art" on the map. Compile listings of arts and cultural venues in Malden, make suggestion to local arts and cultural organizations to consider creating a page with the listings on their websites or publication. Doing so to serve as a bridge to increase community connectivity and to promote the ARTS in Malden as a whole. . Suggested listings to Malden Observer newspaper, City' of Malden, city officers, IDEAS 5 Artists' Studios, Cyber Café @ Malden Square's, MATV Gallery, MaldenHomePage, affordable galarie, MaldenMuse, MaldenArts, Malden Public Library, Malden Sketch Group, and more to come.... Continue this ongoing voluntary effort in updating and suggesting the LISTINGS to potential listers. Making the hard copy be availabled to artists, gallery visitors and collaborators.

Asian American Artists Roundtable Series, Malden, Massachusetts.Awarded a Malden Cultural Council / Massachusetts Cultural Council 2001 Grant to curate exhibitions and co-organize the Asian American Artist Roundtable Series with the Great Wall Center, Inc., MAPAC, and ASIAN SPECTRUM TV Series, Malden, Massachusetts. This project involved conceptualizing processes to accomplish goals including: project proposal writing, program writing, event planning/organizing, budget managing, identify artists, art curatorial, exhibition design and installation, publication design, public affairs/PR, conducting interviews, co-host forums and gallery receptions, and report writing upon completion of all projects.

The Asian American Roundtable Series program included seven events, which were all successfully implemented.

* Teamed up with Asian Spectrum to conduct Asian Artists features Interviews for the CreAsian: A Pan Asian Arts Festival at the Cyclorama, Boston Center for the Arts. Conducted presentation to recruit artists and made announcement of the Asian American Roundtable Series in Malden.
* Co-Organized - ARTISTS' RESOURCE TABLE - an Artists' Slides Presentation and Talk, artSPACE@16, Malden, MA.
* Co-Organized - a Forum on GENDER/EMPLOYMENT EQUALITY AND EMPOWERMENT, Awarded Recognition Award from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for the Boston area, for supporting the Commission's mission in eradicating employment discrimination. Click to read more...

Asian American Resource Workshop, and the Boston Center for the Arts, Boston, Massachusetts

Served as an advisor on the Advisory Board of Cre-Asian: Pan Asian Art Festival. Co-curated a large scale art event "Out of Bounds: Work of Artists with Ties to Asia." Involvement included: reviewing artists' slides and proposals submitted, coordinated and provided outreach to participating artists, planned, designed and installed exhibition, conducted artist interviews for Asian Spectrum TV Series (MATV); arranged publicity with the Chinese media. This large scale Pan-Asian Arts Festival featured more than 100 Asian American visual artists, musicians and performers.

Asian Community Development Corporation, Boston, MA.

Included direct service, outreach, bilingual workshops, presentations, and interpretation / translation to the Asian gardeners and Garden community at large. Co-Designed Youth ROOTS: Community Service Learning Program curriculum and conducted program sessions. This workshop is for trilingual English/ Mandarin/Cantonese high school youth who wanted to complete Community Service learning. Youth students meet elderly Chinese gardeners and help several communities work together on a neighborhood resources, media to explain the garden's role in people live, develop a presentation to share the Chinese cultural heritage unique present at the Berkeley Street Community Garden

The Garden Party: A large-scale installation and Public Art Project by Christina Bechstein, at the Cyclorama, Boston Center for the art and the Berkeley Street Community Garden, Boston, Massachusetts.

Worked with installation artist Christina Bechstein, Boston Center for the Arts, South End Lower Roxbury Open Space Land Trust, and Asian gardeners from the Berkeley Street Community Garden on this awarded community art project. Provided direct service in oral and written translations in English / Mandarin / Cantonese / Toisanese, outreach, photographing and documenting the Garden, Garden presentations, conducted bilingual Garden workshops, contributed ideas on design, installed Christina Bechstein's large scale art installation at the Cyclorama, Boston Center for the Arts, Boston.

The Boston - Tainan Art and Urban Design Cultural Exchange Program: "The Essence of Place" in Boston.

Interpreted with English to Chinese: Mandarin, Fujianese or Taiwanese, and vice versa among the participating artists for this Art and Culture Exchange program. The Exchange program was supported and sponsored by the City of Tainan and the City of Boston, administrated by The Space, a non-profit arts organization for all media in Boston, the New Phase Arts Space, and the Tainan 21st Century Urban Development Association in Tainan, Taiwan.
